Fifteen people arrested for smashing vehicles-shouting slogans : At least 15 people were arrested in connection with the violent protest against the release of film 'Padmavat' in Pune of Maharashtra. Deputy Commissioner of Police Pravin Mundhe said "Fifteen people have been arrested at Sinhagad road and their interrogation is underway. Protesters had smashed several vehicles by shouting slogans to ban 'Padmavat’ yesterday.  FIR has been registered in this regard.Fifteen people arrested for smashing vehicles-shouting slogansSeveral incidents of violent protests are surfacing in different parts of the nation against the release of the movie. In states like Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat  and Haryana, the members of Karni Sena have resorted to burning posters and smashing the ticket counter of the movie theaters.Fifteen people arrested for smashing vehicles-shouting slogansYesterday, the top court refused to modify its earlier order on controversy-ridden Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat. Supreme court had earlier set aside the notification passed by the states of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat to ban the release of Padmavat. The classic drama, based on 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic poem 'Padmavat', is all set to hit the cinema halls on January 25.
