Four-in-a-row by drag flicker Gurjit Kaur helped India trounce Fiji 11-0 and record its third consecutive win in the FIH Series Finals at Hiroshima on Tuesday.
With this win India has qualified for the semi-finals. India has beaten Uruguay and Poland in earlier games.Earlier, Uruguay and Poland played a goalless draw.
India started as if it was going to run through its opponents with a record margin. But after taking 5-0 lead in the first quarter, it slowed down its pace and added three goals in the second quarter, one in the third quarter and two in the final quarter.
Besides Gurjit Kaur’s hat-trick, other scorers included Monika(two), Vandana Katariya, Lilima Minz, Navneet Kaur and skipper Rani. Five of Indian goals came from penalty corners, including all four by Gurjit Kaur.
India will now wait for the crossover games to know its opponent in semis.
