Forest scam: VB files challan against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in Mohali court

Chandigarh, August 6: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Saturday filed forest scam challan in the Mohali court which has further been sent to the Sessions Court for regular hearing. Also Read | India's 'Gold rush' continues: Wrestlers Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia bring laurels Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the Bureau has already registered the case no. 7, dated 6-7-2022, against former Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, District Forest Officer Gurmanpreet Singh and a press reporter Kamalpreet Singh alias Kamal, OSD of the then Minister. He said that the said accused were arrested on 7/6/2022 and presently are in judicial custody. ਧਰਮਸੋਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ, ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ 'ਚ 1200 ਪੰਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਚਲਾਨ ਪੇਸ਼ He said that the Bureau has filed the final report in this case against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Gurmanpreet Singh, DFO and Kamalpreet Singh alias Kamal in the Sessions Court, Mohali under Section 173(2) of CrPC today. Now the case has been transferred to the Additional and Sessions Court of Mohali for hearing and the next date for consideration has been fixed on August 8, 2022. It may be mentioned that the said former minister was involved in the organized corruption in the department with the connivance of other employees of the forest department and private contractors in issuing permits for felling of khair trees including Horna, transfer of department officials, making illicit purchases. ਸਾਧੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਰਮਸੋਤ ਨੇ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ 'ਚ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਲਈ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ The spokesperson said that after a thorough investigation of the case on the basis of the documentary evidence and oral statements received from various accused in this scam, the bureau has arrested accused.
