Ghulam Nabi Azad tests positive for Covid-19

New Delhi, June 21: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has tested positive for Covid-19, informed sources on Tuesday.


Taking to Twitter, the senior Congress leader confirmed the development and wrote, "I have tested covid positive today and am under home quarantine." Meanwhile, India witnessed a marginal decline in daily Covid-19 cases with the country reporting 9,923 new infections in the last 24 hours, informed the Health Ministry on Tuesday.

According to the latest data updated by the ministry, 17 Covid deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. India reported 7,293 recoveries at the rate of 98.61 percent in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,27,15,193. Notably, the total active cases in the country now stand at 79,313 at a rate of 0.18 percent. The current positivity rate is 2.55 percent. India has conducted 85.85 crore tests in total, with 3,88,641 conducted in the last 24 hours. According to data, the country's weekly positive rate is 2.67 percent. As per the ministry, 196.32 crore vaccine doses have been administered to states/union territories as part of the Government of India's Nationwide Vaccination Drive (free of cost channel).
