Honey Singh's divorce from Shalini Talwar finalised; singer pays huge alimony

New Delhi, September 9: Rapper-singer Honey Singh has officially parted ways with his wife Shalini Talwar, sources said on Friday. The former couple has finally separated ways on mutual terms and understanding after battling a legal trial for some time. Shalini filed a domestic violence case against him at the Tis Hazari Court in New Delhi last year. After a year of court hearings, the estranged couple has decided to go their separate ways. Many media sources indicate that alimony of Rs 1 crore has been agreed upon; however, no official document revealing the specific facts of the alimony has come to light. Shalini filed the case against Honey Singh last year under the "Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act." Shalini had then sought Rs 20 crores in alimony. Controversial Yo-Yo Honey Singh Shalini had asked the court to issue a protection order under section 18 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 and to require the singer to pay compensation under the provisions of the PWDVA Act and to release the Stridhan and other material. Honey Singh posted a statement on Instagram after the charges were made against him. "I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs Shalini Talwar. The allegations are severely odious," he had said. "I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health and negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family - my old parents and younger sister - who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature," the singer added. Also Read | India declares one-day mourning for late Queen Elizabeth II on Sept 11 -PTC News
