14 migrant labourers, returning home states, die in accidents in Madhya Pradesh, UP

In a major incident, eight labourers died and over 54 were injured after the truck they were travelling in was hit by a speeding bus in Madhya Pradesh's Guna earlier on Thursday morning. The incident took place hours after 6 migrant workers were run over by a bus on a highway in Uttar Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh, the truck travelling from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh with around 70 labourers was hit by a speeding bus on a bypass road in Guna. Due to the accident, eight labourers died. Around 54 labourers suffered injuries in an accident that took place at around 3 am, the police official said. As per the report, most of the labourers are from Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed condolences over the deaths of the migrant labourers. Reportedly, the bus was travelling from Guna to Ahmedabadwith only a driver and a cleaner travelling in it. A labourer who was travelling in the truck said that "We were asleep when the incident took place." In the other incident from Uttar Pradesh, 6 migrant workers were run over by a state government bus on a highway in Muzaffarnagar district on Wednesday night. The workers were walking to their hometown in Bihar from Punjab amid the coronavirus lockdown, police said. Last week, 16 migrant labourers in a group of 20 were killed after a goods train ran over them while they were sleeping on the railway tracks in Maharashtra's Aurangabad. -PTC News
