MP: 3 police personnel shot dead by poachers, state govt assures action
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), May 14: Three police personnel, including a sub-inspector, were shot dead by poachers in a forest in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, said a police official.
"Three police personnel, including SI of Aron police station, head constable and one constable, were shot dead by poachers in the forest under the limits of Aron police station in Guna. The police team was attacked by the poachers," informed Superintendent of Police, Guna, Rajeev Mishra.
After the shootout, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra assured of immediate arrest of the culprits.
Mishra stated that the police had surrounded the criminals based on a tip-off received, following which there was a gunfight.
"Incident is unfortunate. Police received the information about some criminals and they surrounded them. Upon finding themselves surrounded, criminals started firing. Three policemen including an SI lost their lives in the line of duty. We will nab the culprits soon and strict action will be taken," Mishra added.
The Minister further said that five heads and two carcasses of deer along with a carcass of a peacock were recovered.

"It seems like they were poachers," he added.
Meanwhile, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the strictest action will be taken against the accused to “set an example” in the times to come.
“Our police personnel were martyred while tracing poachers in Guna. Such action will be taken against the criminals that will set an example in history. The perpetrators have almost been identified. The probe is going on. Police force has been sent. Criminals will not escape at any cost,” the CM said.
“We won’t let their sacrifice go in vain. Their families will be given Rs 1 crore, and one member of the family will be given a government job,” he said. “We will pay them last respects. Also, we have removed the Gwalior IG because of the delay in reaching the site,” he added.
