Mumbai Rains: Two unidentified bodies recovered from Khadavli river in Kalyan Heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai and held up the city’s local train network during showers while 2 unidentified bodies were recovered from Khadavli river in Kalyan. The disaster management team of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation removed two unidentified dead bodies from the Khadavli river. 22 tree fall cases and 1 wall collapse case was also reported in Kalyan -Dombivli region. Meanwhile, Muskaan Rajori, 17, was injured in Kalyan after an electric pole fell on her. She is undergoing treatment at the Rukminibai civic hospital. “The formation of a low pressure area over north West Bengal and adjoining areas of the Bay of Bengal, and the active monsoon current over the Konkan coast has led to more moisture incursions leading to rain over Mumbai and other parts or north Konkan,” says Ajay Kumar, scientist, India Meteorological Department. “In the coming days, rainfall intensity is expected to increase over Mumbai and surrounding areas as the low pressure system on the east coast is likely to intensify the offshore trough extending from Gujarat to Kerala, leading to heavy to very heavy rainfall till Wednesday,” he adds. -PTC News
