Mukhtar Ansari Death: 3-member team formed to conduct magisterial investigation in Ansari's death

Mukhtar Ansari Death: Following the demise of Mukhtar Ansari, the notorious gangster-turned-politician, Banda after suffering a cardiac arrest, a three-member team will conduct a magisterial investigation into the death of Ansari.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate in Banda has issued directives regarding the judicial investigation. Officials have stated that a pair of doctors will conduct the post-mortem examination, which will be recorded on video.

Following the post-mortem, Mukhtar Ansari's body will be entrusted to his son, Umar Ansari. Mukhtar Ansari passed away in a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday.

A statement from the district hospital confirmed the death. "Convicted/under trial prisoner Mukhtar Ansari, son of Subhanallah, age 63, was admitted to the emergency ward of Rani Durgawati Medical College, Banda at 8.25 pm by the prison officials after the complaint of vomiting and unconsciousness. The patient was administered treatment by a team of nine doctors. However, despite efforts, the patient died due to cardiac arrest," the hospital said in the statement.

Sibgatullah Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari's elder brother, claimed on Friday that the administration did not inform him and he learned about his brother's death through the media.

On the apprehensions of the family, he said, "It was expressed months ago and was also given in writing to the High Court as well as the Supreme Court but no cognizance was taken."
In April 2023, Mukhtar Ansari was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai by an MP-MLA court. He was sentenced to life in prison on March 13, 2024, in a case related to the use of forged documents for obtaining an arms licence in 1990.

A five-time former MLA from Mau, Ansari's political career was intertwined with a long history of criminal charges, including 15 murder cases among the 61 criminal cases against him. His trajectory from joining a gang in the 1980s to forming his own criminal syndicate in the 1990s, involved in extortion and kidnapping across districts like Mau, Ghazipur, Varanasi, and Jaunpur, paints a complex picture of his life and legacy.
