Chandrayaan-3 Mission: All activities on schedule & systems functioning normally, says ISRO

Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced on Thursday that all activities related to the Chandrayaan-3 Mission are proceeding as planned and that all systems are operational.

ISRO stated on X, "Chandrayaan-3 Mission: All activities are on schedule. All systems are normal. Lander Module payloads ILSA, RAMBHA and ChaSTE are turned ON today. Rover mobility operations have commenced. SHAPE payload on the Propulsion Module was turned ON on Sunday."

The Chandrayaan-3 lander, 'Vikram,' touched down on the uncharted lunar South Pole on Wednesday evening, making India the first country to do so.

India also became the fourth country, after the United States, Russia, and China, to successfully complete a lunar landing mission.

The Vikram lander was landed on the lunar surface by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, which tilted to a horizontal position before landing.

On July 14, the spacecraft was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The spacecraft was sent into lunar orbit on August 5 using a GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle, and it has since gone through a series of orbital manoeuvres before zeroing in on the moon’s surface.
