Chhath Puja 2022: PM Modi wishes countrymen, says 'everyone's life should always be illuminated'

New Delhi, October 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished citizens on the occasion of Chhath Puja on Sunday.

Extending greetings on Twitter, PM Modi said, "Hearty greetings to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Chhath, dedicated to the worship of Sun God and nature. With the blessings of Lord Bhaskar's aura and Chhathi Maiya, everyone's life should always be illuminated, that's all I wish."

Today is the third day of Chhath Puja, known as "Sandhya Arghya."

The four-day festival, also known as Surya Shashti, Chhath, Mahaparv, Chhath Parv, Dala Puja, Pratihar, and Dala Chhath, is dedicated to the deities Surya and Shashthi Devi.

Women fast as part of the ritual for the well-being of their sons and the happiness of their families. They also present Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya with Arghya.

The four-day festival began on October 28, with the main day and final day of the puja being celebrated on October 31. Every day, people observe the Chhath and perform rigorous rituals. According to Drik Panchang, the sunrise on Chhath Puja will be at 06:43 am, and the sunset will be at 06:03 pm. The Shashthi tithi begins on October 30 at 05:49 a.m. and ends on October 31 at 03:27 a.m.

Chhath is performed to obtain the Sun God's blessings for a healthy, happy, and prosperous life. Sunlight is believed to cure a variety of diseases and conditions.

It has a healing effect that can help people who are sick. A dip in the holy river is also thought to have medicinal benefits. The primary purpose of Chhath Puja is to aid Vrattis in achieving mental purity and spiritual well-being. The festival necessitates utmost ritualistic purity.
