While BJP is yet to announce its choice for the government head, Parvesh Verma who defeated Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi seat which is believed to be his bastion, has emerged as frontrunner for the top position.

Delhi Chief Minister's grand swearing-in after PM Modi's return from US: Reports

PTC News Desk: The grand oath taking ceremony of Delhi's Chief Minister will likely be held after PM Modi's return from the United States this week. According to the reports, the oath taking ceremony will be a grand event and all the chief ministers of the NDA ruled states will be invited as the event marks BJP's comeback in national capital after 27 years.


Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with BJP president JP Nadda do discuss government formation. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva will meet the 48 newly elected MLAs this evening. 

While BJP is yet to announce its choice for the government head, Parvesh Verma who defeated Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi seat which is believed to be his bastion, has emerged as frontrunner for the top position. 

Parvesh Verma who is a former two time MP from West Delhi failed to secure a ticket for parliamentary elections last year. He then jumped into assembly polls and triumphed over Arvind Kejriwal from his stronghold seat that he had won thrice in a row. 

Vijender Gupta, a senior BJP leader who has served as the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Satish Upadhyay, a key Brahmin face who previously served as the state president, Ashish Sood, the general secretary of the Delhi BJP who enjoys close relations with central leaders, and Jitendra Mahajan, a strong RSS hand from the Vaishya community, are other contenders.

Speaking to the media after the BJP's capital comeback, Parvesh said the party leadership will decide the next chief minister of Delhi.

"Under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president JP Nadda, we will work tirelessly to bring a real change in Delhi. This mandate is a clear message that people want honest, transparent, and development-driven politics. My commitment to serve with integrity and dedication remains unwavering," he said.
