Farmers' protest: Delhi to witness a showdown again as farmers reject Centre's proposal

Farmers' protest: Protesting farmers on Monday rejected the government's five-year contract to purchase three types of pulses, maize, and cotton at the old minimum support prices. Now, farmers' will continue their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on February 21.

The farmer leaders stated that after deliberations within their organisations, they observed that the proposals are not beneficial to farmers. 


"...Following discussions in both forums, it was determined that there is nothing in the government's proposal...This is not in favour of farmers. We reject it," farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal stated.

Internet ban extended in Haryana

The Haryana government on Monday extended the ban on mobile internet and bulk SMS services in seven districts in the wake of the farmers' protest.

Now, the internet services will remain shut till February 20, 12 am in seven districts of the state - Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa.
