Gurugram: Scorpio driver runs over Swiggy delivery riders in Sector 93, one critically injured
PTC Web Desk: Gurugram witnessed a shocking incident late Sunday evening when a man driving a black Mahindra Scorpio allegedly ran over a group of food delivery riders in the Hayatpur area of Sector 93. One Swiggy delivery executive, identified as Tinku Pawar, sustained critical injuries, while others narrowly escaped.
According to eyewitnesses and the injured riders, the incident occurred around 10.30 pm when five to six Swiggy delivery partners were standing near their motorcycles at a roadside pickup point, waiting for orders. A black Scorpio, reportedly being driven at high speed, suddenly swerved towards them and rammed into the riders.
The situation worsened when the delivery boys protested against the reckless driving. The driver allegedly turned the vehicle around, returned to the spot, and deliberately drove over the riders who had fallen on the road. During this, Tinku Pawar, a resident of Rewari, came under the vehicle’s wheels, while others managed to jump aside to save their lives.
After carrying out the attack, the driver fled the scene. The delivery riders immediately informed the police control room. Police teams reached the spot and rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, including trauma to the head, chest, and legs, his family later shifted him to Rewari for advanced treatment. Doctors have described his condition as critical, and he is currently admitted to the ICU.
A CCTV video of the incident has since surfaced, showing the black Scorpio mowing down the delivery riders, strengthening allegations of a deliberate attack.
Angered by the lack of immediate action, a large number of Swiggy delivery riders gathered at the Sector 93 police outpost on Monday morning, demanding the arrest of the accused. While police sources claim that the Scorpio involved has been recovered, no official confirmation has been issued so far.
The police said the matter is under investigation and assured that detailed information would be shared soon.
The incident has triggered outrage among delivery workers, who have demanded strict action against the accused and stronger measures to ensure their safety while on duty.
