Holiday Rush: Domestic air fares soar ahead of Independence Day long-weekend, check prices

Holiday Rush on Independence Day weekend: Long weekends are popular times for people to travel and take short vacations, which drives up the demand for flights, accommodations, and other travel-related services. The Independence Day 2023 is all set to bring the first long weekend in the month of August with the 5-day long holidays.

Here is an alert for all those who are planning a trip on Independence Day long weekend from Saturday to Monday.  Due to the 5-day long weekend, there has been spike in the fares of domestic flights on some routes.  

Check routes and prices 

There has been rise in price of airlines to the routes connecting from Mumbai and Delhi to popular holiday sites such as Goa, Agra, Kochi, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Leh Madurai, Shirdi, and Tirupati. 

On the other side, as the Independence Day 2023 nears, the airlines fare to places like Kashmir and Srinagar remained unchanged and relatively low. The least cheap non-stop trip from Mumbai to Srinagar with 48 hours' notice cost 9,500 till now.

Rush at religious places during long-weekends is a common phenomenon in many parts of the world. Weekends tend to be days when people have more free time and can engage in activities like visiting religious sites, temples, churches, mosques, synagogues, or other places of worship. The least expensive airfare from Mumbai and Delhi to Tirupati, famous for its Balaji temple, cost 18,000 and 25,000 respectively. 

The flight from Bengaluru to Goa shoots up at Rs 9,800 per side, whereas a flight ticket from Pune to cost Rs 13,300. 

Meanwhile, as per the data there has been high demand of travellers of over 3x compared to the previous long weekend in May.

If planning a trip, you just need to take an off on August 14 and you are all ready, get, set and go to explore the beauty of destination places.

The 5-day long Independence weekend is here: August 12 (Saturday), August 13 (Sunday), August 14( Leave from Work) (Monday) August 15 Independence Day (Tuesday), and August 16: Parsi New Year (Restricted Holiday) (Wednesday).
