Honour killing horror: 19-year-old Hindu girl, her Muslim boyfriend killed, buried in UP's Moradabad
PTC News Desk: An interfaith couple was found dead in a forest in Moradabad, with police saying initial investigations suggest the woman’s brothers plotted their killings in an alleged honour crime.
The victims have been identified as Kajal (19) and Arman (27), both residents of Umri Sabzipur village in Moradabad. Kajal was a student. Police have registered a case against her three brothers, and two of them have been arrested so far.
According to officials, Kajal and Arman had been missing from their homes for the past three days. After they failed to return, their families filed missing person complaints. Senior police officer Satpal Antil said the man’s family lodged a report on Wednesday, while the woman’s family submitted their complaint on Thursday morning. A few hours later, both bodies were discovered in a nearby forest.
"We began the investigation after the missing persons' report from both families. Probe revealed that the woman's brothers murdered both. Two of the brothers have been arrested, and it was, as per their direction, that the bodies of the couple were recovered in the forest behind a temple, located a few metres away from the village," Antil added.
He said that both the bodies were recovered in the presence of a magistrate, and a postmortem is being conducted.
