Major tragedy in Rajasthan: 7 students killed, 15 injured as school roof collapses in Jhalawar

PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident, the roof of a primary school building in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, collapsed on Friday, leaving seven students dead and at least 15 others injured. The children were attending classes at Piplodi Primary School when the roof caved in.

A rescue operation was launched immediately, with the police, local residents, and emergency teams working tirelessly to rescue those trapped under the debris. "Seven children have died, and 17 others are injured. Of the injured, some have been shifted to Jhalawar, with three to four in critical condition," said Amit Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Jhalawar.

Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar expressed his sorrow over the incident, calling it "tragic" and pledging a high-level investigation. "The injured children are being treated at the hospital, with their medical expenses covered by the government. A thorough inquiry will be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse," he added.

The minister was briefed by the District Collector and instructed officials to accelerate relief and rescue operations. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also extended his condolences, tweeting, "I pray for minimal loss of life and a speedy recovery for the injured."

The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall in recent days, with the ongoing monsoon in northern India possibly contributing to the structural failure of the school building.
