No decision on Uniform Civil Code as of now: Union Law Minister Rijiju in RS
New Delhi, February 2: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju informed Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the Centre has not yet made a decision on the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code in the country.
The Minister was responding to a query regarding "whether Government has any plan to pass the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill". "According to information received from the Law Commission, the issue of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) may be taken up for consideration by the 22nd Law Commission. As a result, no decision on implementing a uniform civil code has been made as of yet "Rijiju stated.

He went on to say that the government had asked the 21st Law Commission of India to look into various issues concerning UCC and make recommendations.
The term of the 21st Law Commission, however, ended on August 31, 2018, according to the Law Minister.
