UP horror: Unmarried pregnant woman set on fire by family in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur

Uttar Pradesh horror: Violence against daughters of the nation is increasing with the each passing day which has become the serious and deeply concerning issue especially in Delhi, NRC and Uttar Pradesh. The violence against daughters can take place in various forms including physical, emotional, and economic abuse. 

In a recent horrific, unsettling and dreadful incident, 21-year-old unmarried woman was set on fire allegedly by her family members when they learned that their unmarried daughter was pregnant.

The heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Thursday night in Nawada Khurd village Uttar Pradesh's Hapur wherein 21-year-old unmarried woman was taken to the forest by her brother and mother, sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire. 

The incident came to lime light on Friday morning when farmers working in the field heard woman screaming and shouting and recovered that 70 per cent of her body is burnt. As he was more than half burnt, unmarried woman was admitted to the hospital and later shifted to Meerut's state-run hospital, where she is believed to be in severe condition.

According to the statement of the police, 21-year-old woman’s mother and brother have been taken into custody and Sections of murder have been lodged on them.

After preliminary investigation, the police authorities added that woman was in a relationship with man from the same village and became pregnant.

An uptick in such cases is a horrific and distressing incident raises questions on the law-and-order situation in the nation.
