Uttar Pradesh: ' Justice served', says Umesh Pal's family as jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed's son Asad killed in encounter

Umesh Pal murder case: Gangster-turned politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was killed in an encounter by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi on Thursday.

Asad, son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, and one Ghulam were wanted in Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj. They were carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh each. Sophisticated foreign made weapons have also been recovered, as per the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.


"Asad, son of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and Ghulam S/o Maksudan, both wanted in Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carrying a reward of Rupees five lakhs each; killed in encounter with the UPSTF team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal at Jhansi. Sophisticated foreign made weapons recovered," UP STF said.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were this morning brought to the CJM Court in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Reacting to the reports of the encounter, Umesh Pal's mother and wife said "Justice served." 

" I thank CM Yogi ji for serving justice and I appeal to him to give us justice ahead also. We have full faith in CM," said Shanti Devi, Umesh Pal's mother in Prayagraj.


After the encounter of Atiq Ahmed's son Asad and his aide, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a meeting on law and order. CM Yogi praised UP STF as well as DGP, Special DG law and order and the entire team. Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary, Home, informed the CM about the encounter. A report was placed in front of the CM on this whole matter.
