Naxal Pioneer Kanu Sanyal’s Biography Now in Punjabi
Naxal Pioneer Kanu Sanyal’s authorized biography has now been translated in Punjabi also. Unistar Books Pvt Ltd has published the Punjabi translation of ‘The First Naxal’. It has been named as ‘Pehla Naxali: Kanu Sanyal Dee Jeevani.’ An assistant professor at Sikh National College under Guru Nanak Dev University, Nirmaljit Kaur, has translated the book in the Punjabi language.
It was first penned down by Kolkata based journalist, Bappaditya Paul.
The book was originally published globally by Sage Publications in 2014. Besides English publication, the book was translated into two languages i.e. Hindi and Punjabi.
In 2017, the Hindi translation was named ‘Pehla Naxali: Kanu Sanyal Ki Adhikrit Jeevani.’ The 293-page hardbound book is priced at Rs 300. It is available at all leading booking bookstores across Punjab and Chandigarh. It is also available on all online retail platforms.
This book narrates the making of Kanu Sanyal right from his childhood to the days of the Naxalbari uprising and beyond. It delves deep into Sanyal’s evolution as a Communist rebel and throws light on the various stages of the Naxalite Movement with relevant background information.
