Rajasthan Assembly Poll: On Tuesday, the Congress unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections. Ashok Gehlot, along with Congress leaders, released the 'Jan Ghoshna Patra' at the state party office, highlighting key promises and plans if the Congress secures power.

Gehlot emphasised the state's financial management, expressing pride in Rajasthan's economic progress. He aimed for Rajasthan to attain the top position in per capita income by 2030 and highlighted the significant rise in per capita income, reaching 46.48 per cent.

The manifesto entails seven pivotal "guarantees" presented by Gehlot, promising transformative initiatives if the Congress returns to power. These guarantees encompass various sectors, including financial aid, education, healthcare, and women empowerment.

Some key guarantees are:
  • An annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 for women heading households under the Griha Lakshmi Yojana.
  • Affordable LPG cylinders priced at Rs 500 for 1.05 crore families.
  • Introducing a scheme to buy dung from cattle rearers at Rs 2 per kg under the Gowdhan guarantee.
  • Restoring the old pension scheme for government employees.
  • Providing laptops or tablets to students enrolling in government colleges.
  • Offering insurance cover up to Rs 15 lakh per family for losses due to natural calamities and facilitating education in English medium.
  • Increasing the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
  • The Bharatiya Janata Party has already unveiled its manifesto, setting the stage for a heated electoral contest.

Kharge emphasised the Congress's commitment to fulfilling its pledges and stated that even achieving 90 per cent of the manifesto's promises would be a significant achievement for Rajasthan.

The assembly elections are scheduled for November 25, with vote counting slated for December 3. In the 2018 elections, the Congress secured 99 seats, and with support from BSP MLAs and Independents, Gehlot assumed office as the Chief Minister.
