PTC Web Desk: The police have booked a woman and her son for the murder of advocate Parminder Singh Dhingra, president of the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Dilbagh Nagar, Jalandhar, Tuesday evening. The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, given Dhingra's prominence in Sikh student activism.
The Jalandhar police have registered a murder case based on the statements of Dhingra’s wife. The FIR has been lodged at the Basti Bawa Khel Police Station under Section 103 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused named in the FIR are Dhingra's neighbour's Parminder Kaur and her son Bankin Sharma. According to initial forensic reports, the murder was carried out using a .22 mm rifle. The motive behind the killing remains unclear at this stage, and a thorough investigation is underway.
It is noteworthy that Bankin Sharma has previously represented India in shooting competitions under the banner of "Khelo India." His association with professional shooting has raised further interest in the weapon used in the crime.
Dhingra’s body was discovered in House No. 52, located next to his own residence in the Dilbagh Nagar locality. His death under such suspicious circumstances has sparked public outcry. Supporters of the late AISSF president gathered at the scene, demanding a fair and transparent investigation and accusing the authorities of mishandling the case.
Notably, Parminder Singh Dhingra was a noted legal activist and served as the national president of the AISSF.
