Public holiday in Punjab on June 11 for Kabir Jayanti; government offices to remain shut
PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Government has announced a public holiday on Wednesday, June 11, on the occasion of Sant Kabir Jayanti. As per the official holiday calendar released earlier this year, all government offices in the state will remain closed on this day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the revered 15th-century poet-saint.
This holiday applies to all state government departments, boards, and public sector undertakings. No official government work will be conducted on the day, and citizens are advised to plan their administrative tasks accordingly.
Sant Kabir Jayanti is observed annually to honour the teachings and legacy of Sant Kabir Das, who is known for his spiritual poetry and reformist philosophy promoting unity and social harmony.
It is important to note that summer vacations are already underway in all schools across Punjab. The school education department had earlier declared summer holidays from June 2 to June 30, 2025, for all government and private schools in the state due to the rising temperatures.
