Punjab: 3 kg heroine worth Rs 21 crore seized, 1 arrested in operation against cross-border drug network
PTC News Desk: In a significant development, Counter Intelligence Amritsar has arrested a drug peddler along with huge quantity of 3 kg high quality heroin. The operation was conducted based on credible intel about presence of the accused.
The accused has been identified as Balveer Singh, resident of Attari who was arrested under the special operation against trans-border drug networks.
The Punjab police has registered an FIR under the NDPS act at State Special Operation Cell Amritsar.
Director General of Police Punjab took to the social media to announce the breakthrough apprehension. "In a major breakthrough against trans-border drug networks, Counter Intelligence Amritsar apprehends Balveer Singh, resident of Attari, and recovers 3 Kg Heroin in an intelligence-led operation near Attari," he wrote.
Meanwhile Punjab police has also launched manhunt to arrest Balveer Singh's co-accused Harpreet Singh and dismantle the entire network.
"Efforts are underway to arrest co-accused Harpreet Singh and trace the entire network linked to #Pakistan-based smugglers," he further added.
