Temperatures drop across Punjab and Chandigarh; dense fog alert issued
Weather update: The temperature in Punjab and Chandigarh has been steadily declining. Punjab's average minimum temperature has fallen by 3.2°C, while Chandigarh recorded a 4.5°C drop. Sangrur reported the lowest temperature at 4.5°C. Except for Mohali, all cities in Punjab and Chandigarh are now experiencing temperatures below 10°C.
The cold wave has intensified due to snowfall in the hilly regions, bringing the temperature closer to normal levels in Punjab and Chandigarh. A western disturbance is expected to become active on December 8, leading to possible rain over the Himalayan region and parts of Punjab and Haryana for two days.
Dense fog alert for three days
A dense fog alert has been issued for December 7 to 9, ahead of the western disturbance. The fog will significantly reduce visibility to around 50 metre in several cities, including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, and Malerkotla.

Chandigarh: Slight haze with temperatures ranging between 9°C and 26°C.
Amritsar: Slight haze, temperature between 7°C and 24°C.
Jalandhar: Slight haze, temperature between 7°C and 25°C.
Ludhiana: Slight haze, temperature between 8°C and 26°C.
Patiala: Slight haze, temperature between 10°C and 27°C.
Mohali: Slight haze, temperature between 12°C and 26°C.
