Punjab Cabinet okays creation of 775 posts of health staff
The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, on Tuesday approved the creation of 775 posts, including senior medical officer, medical officer, staff nurse, pharmacist and laboratory technician, by upgrading 28 health institutions (PHCs, CHCs, SDHs etc), which is under active consideration.
It also approved the opening of a new trauma centre at Community Health Centre at Morinda.

According to spokesperson for the Chief Minister's Office, after the upgradation of these institutions, additional staff would be required. To meet the staff shortage, 706 new posts of different cadres would be created as per department norms. To provide immediate medical facilities to the injured in tragic incidents, the Cabinet decided to create 69 new posts of various cadres for trauma centres at Pathankot and Jalandhar.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Cabinet, led by Charanjit Singh Channi, also gave approval to abolish 50 posts as per department norms upon the upgradation of these health institutions.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Cabinet also gave sanction for the creation and filling of 513 new posts to operationalise newly constructed Central Jail at Sri Goindwal Sahib.

The Cabinet also gave nod for the formulation of the Punjab Department of Water Supply and Sanitation Group 'D' (Field Workers) Service Rules, 2021.
It may be recalled that following restructuring on September 3, 2019, the department issued a notification whereby 3,503 regular posts of Group-D work charge (helper technical) were approved in place of earlier 3,503 temporary posts of work charge (Group-D).

Since there are no existing rules for helper (technical) (Group-D) posts of field worker, therefore the aforesaid rules have been framed for the first time, keeping in view the requirements of the department. Furthermore, 100 per cent posts of helper (technical) would now be now filled through direct recruitment.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Cabinet, led by Charanjit Singh Channi, also gave approval to upgrade 229 schools to different levels — 46 elementary to middle schools, 100 middle to high schools and 83 high to senior secondary schools.
