Punjab CM Channi announces New Year bonanza for cops
Jalandhar: In a New Year bonanza for Punjab Police personnel, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday announced a slew of incentives for them.
At a function held at the PAP complex on Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi announced to accept major demand of policemen with regard to restarting uniform allowance. He said superior quality uniform would be provided to policemen for which the total payment would be borne by the government.

Punjab CM Channi also announced free bus travel for policemen on duty in government buses. He said police personnel would continue to get 13 months’ salary.
The Punjab Chief Minister said bomb disposal units put their life to risk during the discharge of their duty so the state government would provide risk allowance to them. He announced to enhance diet money for sportsmen in the Punjab Police from the existing Rs 150 to Rs 250 per day during camps. CM Channi also announced ground renovation on the PAP campus at a cost of Rs 1 crore to boost sports.

CM Channi said 'Police sanjh kendra' would be opened at the Amritsar and Mohali airports to facilitate NRIs coming into the state. He announced requisite funds for purchasing 250 vehicles in the force. CM Channi also announced to enhance the police welfare fund from the existing Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore from the next budget.
