Rajasthan Phalodi Jailbreak: In what seemed like a scene from Bollywood, 16 prisoners escaped from Phalodi jail in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on Monday night after putting chilli powder in the eyes of prison staff. The prisoners escaped in a Scorpio that was parked strategically outside the premises of the prison. DG Jail Rajeev Dasot, on Rajasthan's Phalodi Jailbreak, said that four staff members were suspended while the investigation has been handed over to deputy IG Surendra Singh Shekhawat. Meanwhile, the police officials informed that soon after jailbreak the barricades were placed on roads leading to the surrounding districts -- Barmer, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Nagaur. According to the sources, the prisoners who escaped from Phalodi jail in Jodhpur were smugglers. However, it appeared that the jailbreak was meticulously planned, said officials who have been scrutinising the CCTV footage. The police has been interrogating the guards who were deployed in the prison while the CCTV footage installed around were also being examined. As per the footage, the prisoners were wandering in the open space next to the barracks. They were being put in the barracks later in the evening. The prisoners first pushed the constable after which they unlocked the gate. Afterward, they overpowered the caretaker and a guard near them.
