RBI to issue new Rs 20 denomination banknotes
Reserve Bank of India has announced that it will be issuing new Rs 20 denomination banknotes. The new banknotes will have a signature of the central bank’s Governor, Shaktikanta Das. In a statement issued by RBI said that the new Rs 20 note will be in Greenish-yellow colour. The new banknote has a motif of Ellora Caves on the back of it. Ellora Caves symbolizes the nation’s cultural heritage.

RBI clarified that all the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the RBI in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.

The new note will have a geometric pattern that will comply well with the overall colour scheme. The dimension of the new Rs 20 note will be 63 mm x 129 mm. It will also contain a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, with micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘Bharat’, ‘India’ and ‘20’. It will also have an RBI emblem towards the right of Gandhi’s portrait.
