Russia-Ukraine War: Russian forces have taken control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine on Thursday (local time), as per an official. Yevgeniya Kuznetsova, a spokeswoman for the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management told CNN that troops overran the plant on the first day of Russia's multi-pronged invasion of Ukraine. So, there was no one to give instructions or defend," she said. Earlier taking to Twitter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia is trying to seize the power plant. Russia-Ukraine War: Russian forces take control of Chernobyl nuclear power plant On the other hand, President of the European Council Charles Michel on Friday said that the European Union has made a political decision to impose additional sanctions on Russia over its military operation in Ukraine. "We took a political decision to add an additional package of mass sanction which will be painful for the Russian regime," Michel said after the extraordinary EU Summit. "We also discussed support for the Ukrainian people and state to mobilize financing capacity and humanitarian support," he added.
