WhatsApp Channels: WhatsApp keeps its users engaged with new features and updates for the platform. Now it officially launched its new broadcast feature, Channels, in India and over 150 other countries. Meta's WhatsApp, like Instagram's Broadcast channel feature, now allows users to engage with their connections through one-way channels, simplifying sending out of messages to huge groups of recipients.

What are Whatsapp Channels?

WhatsApp Channels are a one-way broadcast tool and deliver a private way to receive updates from people and organizations that matter to you, right within WhatsApp.

Where Channels can be found on Whatsapp?

With introducing Channels, WhatsApp’s goal is to build the most private broadcast service available. Channels are separate from chats, and who you choose to follow is not visible to other followers.

Channels can be found in a new tab called ‘Updates’ - where you’ll find the Status and channels you choose to follow. You can also view channels that are new, most active, and popular based on number of followers.

Channels function as a unidirectional broadcasting tool, allowing administrators to share text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls while safeguarding both administrators' and followers' privacy.

What are Whatsapp Channels Updates?

Enhanced Directory - WhatsApp users can find channels to follow that are automatically filtered based on your country. You can also view channels that are new, most active, and popular based on the number of followers.

Reactions – One can react using emojis to give feedback and see a count of total reactions. How you react will not be shown to followers.

Editing – Soon admins will be able to make changes to their Updates for up to 30 days, when we automatically delete them from our servers.

Forwarding - Whenever you forward an Update to chats or groups it will include a link back to the channel so people can find out more.

How WhatsApp Channels work?

This feature comes with most private broadcast service available. This starts by protecting the personal information of both admins and followers. As a channel admin, your phone number and profile photo won't be shown to followers. Likewise, following a channel won't reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers. Who you decide to follow is your choice and it's private.

Admins can even prevent screenshots and forwarding, ensuring that what is in the channel remains in the channel. Channels, on the other hand, are not end-to-end encrypted; they are regarded more like your messages with businesses, which are also not completely private.
