World Cup 2023: Suryakumar Yadav gets hit on wrist ahead of New Zealand clash
World Cup 2023: Following the expulsion of all-rounder Hardik Pandya due to an ankle injury, another Indian player, Suryakumar Yadav, was injured during a nets practice ahead of India's ICC Cricket World Cup match against New Zealand on Sunday in Dharamshala.
On Sunday, India will face New Zealand at Dharamshala. Both teams have four wins and eight points in the competition and are undefeated. New Zealand is at the top due to a higher net run rate. Notably, India has not defeated New Zealand in any ICC tournament since 2003.
Suryakumar got hit on the wrist while facing a throwdown specialist during the nets. Surya had to quit the session due to severe pain.
Suryakumar has played 14 ODI this year, amassing 283 runs in 13 innings at an average of 23.58, with two fifties and a top score of 72*. He has a strike rate of more than 113 runs per game. He is known as an X-Factor for Men in Blue due to his striking abilities and 360-degree shots. With Hardik Pandya out due to an ankle injury, a spot as a lower middle-order finisher may have opened up for him.
In addition, Ishan Kishan was stung by a honey bee at the back of his neck while practising and had to be hurried out. He is, nevertheless, fine.
