Punjab Police on high alert: Preparedness for potential floods directed by CM Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, July 09: With ongoing heavy rainfall in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has instructed all officers to remain alert, prompting Punjab Police to make extensive arrangements to handle any potential flood emergencies, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

A state control room has been established for flood mitigation, with officers instructed to provide hourly reports on the situation in their respective districts.

DGP Gaurav Yadav and Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla have personally overseen the situation in the state, while Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) have been directed to be in the field and actively monitor the situation in their districts.

Special DGP Arpit Shukla revealed that the State Disaster Response Force (STRF) teams are on high alert and fully prepared to handle any crisis. In addition, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in flood-affected districts such as SAS Nagar and Fatehgarh Sahib to conduct rescue operations and respond to any flood-related emergencies.

The Army has also been placed on alert. Shukla urged the people of Punjab not to panic and requested their cooperation with the administration and police. He further appealed to residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas to move to designated safe places or relief centers established by their respective district administrations for their safety.
