PTC Web Desk: Monkey troubles in Indian cities such as Mathura and Vrindavan are not uncommon, with the mischievous creatures often snatching personal belongings. In a recent amusing incident at Sri Rangnath Ji Mandir in Vrindavan on January 6, a monkey made off with a man's iPhone, sparking an entertaining negotiation.

A video posted on Instagram by user Vikas captured the incident, showing two monkeys perched on a structure, one of them in possession of the man's valuable iPhone. Onlookers gathered, attempting to retrieve the phone from the monkey. The ingenious negotiation involved throwing a pack of Frooti to strike a deal with the monkey. As soon as the monkey caught the drink, it promptly dropped the phone. A quick-thinking individual on the ground managed to catch the falling phone.

The caption of the Instagram post humorously reads, ''Vrindavan's Monkeys. iPhone sold in one frooti.'' The video has garnered amusement online, with many expressing awe at the monkeys' clever tactics. Some comments highlighted the monkeys' intelligence, noting their ability to trade stolen items like phones and eyeglasses for food. Comparisons were made to a barter system, and users jokingly referred to Vrindavan monkeys as "best traders," "schemers," and "professionals."

This incident echoes a similar occurrence in Bali a few months back when a monkey returned a woman's phone only after receiving two fruits in exchange. The stories highlight the smart and strategic behaviour displayed by these urban monkeys as they navigate human environments.
