Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022: Voting for the third phase of Uttar Pradesh polls is underway in 59 assembly seats spread across 16 districts in the state. The voter turnout was recorded at 48.81 percent till 3 pm.
The Commission has also deployed 52 general observers, 16 police observers, and 19 expenditure observers to monitor the polls. In addition, there are 2235 Sector Magistrates, 273 Zonal Magistrates, 832 Static Magistrates and 3069 Micro Observers on the task. There will be 641 model polling stations and 129 all-women polling stations in the third phase.

With the third phase, Uttar Pradesh assembly elections have entered the ‘Yadav belt.’
Meanwhile, Karhal, where former chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is contesting his first Assembly election, is one of the crucial constituencies where voting will take place on Sunday. The BJP has fielded Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice Satya Pal Singh Baghel against SP supremo.
Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) supremo Shivpal Singh Yadav is contesting from Jaswantnagar constituency.
Voting for the remaining four phases of the seven-phase UP assembly elections will take place on February 23, 27 and March 3 and 7, with the counting of votes on March 10.

Campaigning for the third phase of the state elections concluded on Friday, as per the Election Commission’s guidelines and the polling begin at 7 a.m. on Sunday.
In the third phase of elections, 627 candidates are running in 59 assembly constituencies, including 97 women candidates. On Sunday, almost 2.16 crore voters will cast votes at 25,794 polling places and 15,557 polling stations.
