Video of 55-year-old ITBP official doing pushups in -30 degrees Celsius goes viral
February 23, 2022 : Amid extreme cold weather conditions in the Ladakh region, a video of a 55-year old Indo-Tibetan Border Police Commandant doing push-ups in snow-covered mountains went viral on social media. ITBP official can be seen doing pushups in -30 degree Celsius temperature.
The video has been shared by ITBP on Twitter which has already bagged more than 14k likes. In the post shared by ITBP, Commandant Ratan Singh Sonal completes 65 push-ups at once in just 1 minute 12 seconds in a freezing and frigid temperature of minus 30 degree Celsius at 17,000 feet.

The video is captioned: "Push-ups at icy heights...ITBP Commandant Ratan Singh Sonal (Age- 55 years) completes more than 60 push-ups at one go at 17,500 feet at minus 30-degree Celsius temperature around in Ladakh."
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) said that their central mountaineering team has climbed Mount Karzok Kangri, a mountain in the Himalayas. Led by Commandant Ratan Singh Sonal, the team of six top mountaineers of the force, climbed the 20,177 feet high peak on February 20, as informed by the border patrol organization.

"This was the first-ever ascent to the Karzok Kangri. Team of 6 top-class mountaineers of the ITBP led by the ace mountaineer Commandant Ratan Singh Sonal scaled the 20,177 feet high peak which is located in the cold desert of Ladakh," an ITBP spokesperson said.
ITBP often share these kinds of videos to reflect the hardened situations under which they work for the security of the nation. "Enduring physical and mental toughness in extreme winters, the team did not use any special mountaineering equipment and support system and completed the ascent," he added.
