Winter Session of Parliament begins today

Many important bills, including the Citizenship Bill, will be tabled in the winter session of Parliament, which begins on Monday. The winter session, which will continue till December 13, will have 20 sittings spread over 26 days. These sittings will include four private Members’ days. The Citizenship Bill will be taken up during House proceedings. The BJP seeks to pass the bill, aimed at granting citizenship to non-Muslims from neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, provided they came to India before December 31, 2014. Other key bills likely to be tabled include Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, Anti Maritime Piracy Bill 2019 and Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 among 47 other items. https://www.ptcnews.tv/justice-sharad-arvind-bobde-sworn-in-as-the-47th-chief-justice-of-india/ On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended an all-party leaders’ meeting. He said the government will try to work with all parties in a constructive manner to take up pending legislative work. Union Minister Amit Shah, Thawarchand Gehlot, V Muraleedharan and Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present in the meeting.
