Canada accident: Amritsar youth among three Indians killed in Ontario crash on Valentine’s Day
PTC Web Desk: Three Indian nationals lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Ontario on February 14. The victims, identified as Dhara Patel from Kalol, Rishabh Limbachiya from Amod in Gujarat, and Didarjeet Singh from Amritsar, Punjab, were travelling to work at an automobile plant in Allison, located in the township of New Tecumseth when the crash was reported.
According to local reports, the accident occurred due to severe winter conditions when their vehicle collided with a work truck. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Region detachment, along with its traffic incident management team, is investigating the cause of the crash.
Following the accident, the authorities shut down the road for nearly 11 hours. The non-profit organisation 'Humans for Harmony' is assisting the families of the deceased in repatriating the remains of two victims to India while arranging the cremation of the third in Canada.
India’s Consulate in Toronto confirmed the deaths and stated that it is providing necessary support, including coordinating with the local authorities, funeral services, and transportation of the mortal remains. Financial aid will also be extended to families in need. The victims’ bodies are currently with the coroner’s office for autopsies.
