At least 16 people were killed while several others were injured in a road accident that took place in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday evening. Many of the injured were said to be in critical condition.
The road accident in Uttar Pradesh took place when a passenger bus and a loader collided at Sachendi, near Kanpur.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from the PMNRF for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to a tragic accident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Rs. 50,000 would be provided to those injured.
Likewise, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those deceased and ordered an inquiry into the accident.
As per the report, the bus was traveling from Kanpur to Ahmedabad and was going at a high speed. Police confirmed that 15 bodies were recovered while a dozen of people have sustained critical injuries.
The collision was so strong that almost all passengers onboard the bus got trapped and sustained serious injuries, the SP said.
