5 cars damaged as wall collapses amid rains in Amritsar

Amritsar, July 16: Amid continuous downpour, a wall of a building collapsed in Punjab's Amritsar on Friday night and engulfed a parking garage near it.

As many as five cars were damaged in the incident that occurred due to heavy rains and the owner's negligence in the maintenance of the building.

After the wall collapse incident, the remaining vehicles parked in the garage were safely moved on Saturday morning.

A complaint has been filed with the local police and the investigation is underway.

Rajeev Sharma, a resident of Beri Gate, Amritsar stated he built a garage next to Arun Rashmi School where 7 to 8 vehicles are regularly parked. There is an old building next to the garage that is owned by a well-known city doctor.

The locals have been meeting with the doctor about the threat to the garage and repair of the building for the past two years. The doctor promised to have the building repaired, but that did not happen.

After continuous rains for two days, the wall of the building collapsed, smashing five cars parked in the garage.
