Andre Russell thanks PM Modi for sending Covid-19 vaccines to Jamaica

Vaccine Maitri initiative: West Indies cricketer Andre Russell, who has immense popularity in India, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending COVID-19 vaccines to Jamaica. "I just want to say a big, big, big thank you to Prime Minister Modi and the India High Commission," said Andre Russell in a video posted by the official Twitter handle of India in Jamaica. Thanking PM Narendra Modi for sending COVID-19 vaccines to Jamaica, Andre Russel said that the vaccines were here and that they were excited. "I would love to see the world going back to normal," he said, adding that Jamaica people really appreciate it. "India and Jamaica are now brothers," Russell said. Earlier this month, Jamaica thanked India for sending 50,000 doses of vaccines. In a tweet, Jamaica Prime Minister Andrew Holness had written, " I am extremely pleased to report that yesterday afternoon, we received our first shipment of 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the Government of India. We express our deep appreciation to the Government and people of India for this very much-needed support." Vaccine Maitri initiative: Andre Russell thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending COVID-19 vaccines to Jamaica. Currently, India has the largest share of COVID-19 vaccinated individuals in the world at 30 million. On March 8, the Indian vaccines had reached Jamaica under the Vaccine Maitri initiative. Earlier, former West Indies cricketers Vivian Richards, Richie Richardson, Jimmy Adams, and Ramnaresh Sarwan had thanked PM Modi for providing vaccines under the Vaccine Maitri initiative.
