Delta Plus variant: Maharashtra likely to impose uniform restrictions across the state

Amid concerns over the Delta Plus variant, classified as a ‘Variant of Concern’, the Maharashtra government is likely to re-impose uniform restrictions across the state. The Maharashtra cabinet was informed about the new Delta Plus variant by the state health ministry. The experts have even raised serious concerns over its presence. The State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the government was isolating such cases and taking all details like travel history, contact tracing and if they have been vaccinated. Meanwhile, no deaths have been reported due to the Delta Plus variant so far. It is pertinent to mention that the symptoms and treatment for the variant are same. No children have been infected with this variant of concern, he added. Tope also directed the officials that the variant should be monitored closely, and information about these cases should be collected and recorded for research.
