As announced by Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the farmers, protesting against the Centre’s farm laws, are observing ‘Mazdoor Kisan Ekta Divas’ in an order to intensify their agitation.
The call for Mazdoor Kisan Ekta Divas by Samyukta Kisan Morcha comes days after farmers celebrated Pagadi Sambhal Divas, and observed Daman Virodhi Divas. Even as the farmers observed Yuva Kisan Divas on Friday.
Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at Delhi borders against farm laws for over 90 days. The protest at the outskirts of Delhi has entered the 92nd day.
Meanwhile, the farmers’ organisation is all set to hold a meeting on February 28 to make a further strategy to intensify the protest against farm laws 2020.
Farmers have been demanding to repeal farm laws and have a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops. Apparently, the government is adamant on its proposal regarding the suspension of farm laws for 1-2 years and to discuss the laws clause-wise.
So far, 11 rounds of meetings took place between the farmers’ union and Centre but all of these remained inconclusive. Since then there has been a complete deadlock between both sides.
Farmers have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
