Gujarat News: Women trainee clerks of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) were allegedly forced to stand naked in a room for a medical test at a civic body-run hospital in Surat. The incident has prompted authorities to order an investigation. Meanwhile, the Surat Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani on Friday ordered an investigation into allegations that at least 10 female trainee clerks of civic body were forced to stand naked for medical test in gynecology ward of a hospital. publive-image The shocking incident comes to light after students of a girls college in Gujarat's Bhuj town were forced by the hostel authorities to remove undergarments to prove that they were not menstruating. In a complaint to the commissioner on Thursday, the SMC Employees Union alleged that even unmarried women were checked by the female doctors. The incident took place in the Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) hospital on February 20. publive-image While acting on the complaint, Banchhanidhi Pani on Friday ordered an investigation. She formed a three-member committee to investigate into the matter and submit a report in 15 days.
