India's daily coronavirus cases fall below 2 lakh for first time since April 14

Coronavirus India Updates: The daily new cases of COVID-19 in India have fallen below 2 lakh as the country recorded 1,96,427 new infections taking the total number of cases to 2,69,48,874. While giving coronavirus updates, the Union Health Ministry stated that India on Tuesday reported 1,96,427 new COVID-19 cases, 3,26,850 discharges, and 3,511 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has increased to 2,69,48,874 while total discharges have gone up to 2,40,54,861. The death toll in the country has reached 3,07,231 and the active cases stand at 25,86,782. As of now, a total of 19,85,38,999 people in the country have been administered COVID-19 vaccines. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 33,25,94,176 samples have been tested up to May 24 including 20,58,112 samples which were tested on Monday. Coronavirus India Updates: The daily new cases of COVID-19 in India have fallen below 2 lakh as the country recorded 1,96,427 new infections. Delhi, once the worst-affected city, recorded 1,550 fresh cases of COVID-19, 207 new fatalities. The positivity rate in Delhi now stands at 2.52 percent. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry stated that "We’re coordinating with (Pfizer and Moderna) on the central level in 2 ways-approval and procurement. "It depends on surplus how much they can provide to India," the Joint secretary said, adding that "They'll come back to GOI, will ensure and facilitate."
