INX Media Case: Supreme Court Rejects P Chidambaram's Pre-Arrest Bail Request

INX Media case: Supreme Court on Thursday refused to grant protection to Congress leader P Chidambaram following the arrest by the Enforcement Directorate over corruption allegations. Supreme Court rejected an appeal of P Chidambaram against the Delhi High Court’s order rejecting his anticipatory bail plea in a case being probed by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in INX Media case. https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1169480331516268544 Supreme Court said, “Granting anticipatory bail at the initial stage may frustrate the investigation. It’s not a fit case to grant anticipatory bail. Economic offenses stand at the different footing and it has to be dealt with a different approach." Likewise, the Supreme Court said that P Chidambaram can move regular bail application before the trial court, for regular bail. Peter Mukherjea and Indrani were the co-founders of INX Media. Chidambaram is accused of approving the FIPB funds in 2007, while he was the Finance Minister of India.   -PTC News
