LeT commander killed in encounter in J-K’s Anantnag
Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir), April 9: A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sirhama area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, informed Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Police on Saturday. As per the police officials, the LeT commander has been identified as Nisar Dar. Meanwhile, the internet has been snapped in some parts of Anantnag for precautionary measures, informed the police. According to the police, the encounter broke out between the security forces and the terrorists early in the day. A search is still going on in the Sirhama area of Anantnag, said officials. More details about the encounter are awaited. Meanwhile, a second encounter is underway in Kulgam’s DH Pora where police and security forces believe two militants belonging to Hizbul are trapped. Encounters have also begun in the Chaki Samad region of Kulgam where an unidentified LeT has been reportedly killed. Separately, the Ministry of Home Affairs has designated Hafiz Talha, the son of the Mumbai terror attack mastermind and banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, as a designated terrorist under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. According to a statement released by the ministry on Friday, Hafiz Talha Saeed is a senior leader of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group and the head of the group’s cleric wing.
