The first encounter started in Batote when three terrorists tried to stop a bus on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. When the bus driver saw the terrorists, who were dressed in Indian military uniform, he sped away and alerted the police. Thereafter, security forces surrounded and combed the area. The second encounter took place in Ganderbal near the Line of Control. A terrorist was shot dead in the attack, sources said, adding that he was probably part of a larger group which infiltrated into India from Gurez side.
