3 killed, 10 injured after explosion at illegal firecracker unit in MP
Explosion at illegal firecracker unit: An explosion at an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district on Tuesday killed three people and injured ten others, according to an official.
The illegal firecracker manufacturing unit was located in a residential area near the city's Purana Pool locality. When the police got information about the incident, they rushed to the scene and began the rescue operation.
"A factory was being operated illegally here in Purana pul area in which firecrackers were being manufactured. On Tuesday, a blast occurred here as a result of which the roof of the building collapsed and some people were buried in its debris. Three persons have died and 10 others sustained injuries in the incident who were undergoing treatment," Superintendent of Police (SP, Damoh) Sunil Tiwari stated.
The rescue operation is still ongoing at the location. The factory was illegal because licenses to manufacture firecrackers in the middle of the colonies were never granted, he added.
The officer went on to say that Damoh Collector Mayank Agarwal had ordered a magisterial investigation into the matter and that further action would be taken.
